Stay hungry, stay foolish

He was a visionary talent, a charismatic leader and an example for young people.

To him goes the merit to have spread the informatic verb and realized revolutionary ideas and inventions  which have changed our way of living and thinking. Without him the world would be really different.

I feel I'm still learning a lot from his personal story, a lesson of courage, strenght of will and intuitions.
He showed to be a fighter giving us a never-give-up message with his whole life - yes...I repeat that, never give up! - as well as a genius with extraordinary talents and a continuous source of inspiration.

So...I only say thank you to Mr. Jobs, R.I.P. and for us, let's keep on staying hungry and foolish.

Dreams VS Real Economics

with romantic and flattering shapes.
 Couture is a privilege for few people and we all can only dream of it, but to be honest, in these times of financial and economics crisis, I relate in particular to the public debt crisis that is involving Italy (but also Usa) and the consequent always growing fiscal pressure, the fall of the stock exchange indexes (FTSE mib in Italy) and the high levels of volatility, the growing spread of Italian government bond yields compared to German's ones, judged to be in decline, the negative opinions of American rating agencies on Italian markets and the speculative attacks, and more concretely,
a problem that concerns the whole Euro zone,
the widespread unemployment from which only Germany seems to be safe,
Greece and Portugal seem to be closer and so on...
I don't want to bore you...I feel that there's very little space to dream.

 (you know I have sometimes a critical approach to fashion, though knowing that fashion is besides a big game, an industry with many employees)

Do you have some considerations about it?
I think young people must have "broad shoulders" for the future.

I know this is not the most suitable place where write about this. The post I had decided to write was different but can't ignore what's happening in Lybia. Italy is providing the bases for the military intervention decided by France, Uk, USA and Italy too in Lybia, war planes rose up yesterday nights and a hundread of missils were dropped to strike military targets. But like in all the wars it's not excluded  that civils could be shot during the attack, in addition to those hit by the bombs coming from the regime against the rebels. So this makes me sad for this people who wishes only freedom and independence from a long time dictatorship.

I don't know if this military action could be avoided,  surely is a war to protect  Lybians - is also an oil war? Who knows? - but I know that the last patch of Italy, the island of Lampedusa in Sicily, is only 60  miles from Tunisia, and Italy some hundreads from Lybia. And although we were reassured that Lybians don't have so powerful weapons to reach our Country, we all know that the terrorism can hit anytime-anywhere, and the fact we're very close and involved is scary for the possible reaction of the regime.

I wish there won't be a long time war in the Mediterranean even if seems it's already started.

Update: also Italian war planes will add to the allies operation.

Happy 150 B-day Italy!

Today is a great day in Italy, we celebrate the 150 years - though it has a thousands years old history - since Italy was born as concept of whole Country with all its regions, merged together during the Risorgimento. In that historical and cultural period, full of patriotic ideas, turmoils and battles to gain independence,  the Italian identity was born.

We Italian often want to go abroad, looking for other destinations where let our dreams grow, often forgetting this is the best Country where you can live. Italy has a lot of beauties all over the regions, natural masterpieces in its varied country, beautiful coasts with their mild climate,
wonderful landscapes among the mountains, as well as places where you really breathe art everywhere, from the biggest cities you surely know to the smallest ones, little jewels, worthy to be visited.

Not talking about the Italian people: creative, dreamer, sociable, generous. It's not a common place.

What we are you can see in all the fields in which we excel and fashion is only one of these.

The made in Italy is sign of a hand-made, tailored, refined object and Italian style is a symbol, still nowadays all over the world, of a way of living surrounded by classy, pretty, precious things.

Very few Countries can boast a History like ours and I am really proud of my Country.

About Japan

It's difficult in these days blogging anything but the earthquake and the tsunami that hit Japan. When a tragedy of this sort- it's said over 10,000 died and only God knows what the plant of the nuclear reactors will cause - strikes a whole population, you remain dazed, watching the dramatic pictures of what seems apocalyptic. Japan used to be prepared to earthquakes but not to a disaster of this extent. In front of this destructive strenght of the nature people remains defenceless. My thought goes to people who died, 

and also to all the people that needs help now, who lost anything, 

is looking for family, to the children, who is homeless. This tragedy concerns us all. What we can do now is supporting and givin our donation to the humanitarian organizations that are taking care, with the volunteers, of the victims of this unbelievable tragedy.

The imperfections and other

The more I blog the more I feel a strange fashion blogger. I mean, when I see perfect outfits from streetstyle pics, beautiful models on the runways, adv campaigns in the magazines I have contrasting feelings. On one side, the first impression is that admire the aesthetics of the images, the perfection. Who doesn't like the cute things, the refined details? On the other side after a while, I have a repulsion feeling. It's like an excess of beauty that seems not very realistic. This happens to me always. It has to do with myself. It's like if in myself coexist two souls, one loves Beauty, the other loves the Truth.

In general I have the impression we care too much about being fashionable, always cool, perfect, glamour in our clothes. Almost don't excuse us when we aren't. Yes, we have to dress every day, but no, we have to direct all our passion in fashion and outward appearence. I mean, fashion is part of our life, but is a big game we don't have to take too much seriously.

Besides life is not always fashionable and cool like we are not. Don't you feel there's too much pressure in being aesthetically pretty? I want the freedom to be not perfect and want to be judged by who am rather than by my clothes. Am not an object. I know this is rethorical...but this is the reason  why I like more the truth of the imperfections and prefer real women, those who, with many defects, have something intelligent to say, deep thoughts, sincere smiles, proud eyes rather than a perfect body or cool dresses. The perfection of exteriority is long run boring and want to remember what somebody said, more than wore. So I would like to dedicate this post, in this day, to all the women who are not afraid of being not fashionable, who don't give a damn, who cultivate other passions. In a fashion-oriented world isn't this more courageous, read charming? More freedom.

Women without men

There's a lot of talk about women in these days in Italy cause our premier's sex-gate. The Italian journalist and writer (one of the most important) Oriana Fallaci in The Useless Sex said "Women are not a special fauna and I don't understand why have to be, especially on newspapers, a subject apart: like sport, politics and the weather bulletin", I agree enough however, there are some times I need to talk about. Like now. 

What I like of women is that we are strong, ready to rush headlong into new things and adventures with courage and a little of recklessness, we bring ourselves into question always and change our boundaries, pursue our dreams with many difficulties, and even in the hardest moments we never give up. We study, nourishing our ambitions, work, to achieve the autonomy which allows us to be free and not depend by anyone. 

We grow up with the idea of parity, take for granted the idea of having the same and equal opportunities men have, even if when we come up against reality understand that we have to work very hard, twice, to get the same results (luckily is not so difficult for us!). We are the daughters of the women that in the Sixties took to the streets to claim their rights but it seems that we have not taken that baton. 

So I ask myself: Do we still need men allow us to achieve what we deserve? Maybe there are still too few women in the control room (think about Angela Merkel, Dilma Rousseff, Cristina Fernandes, Hillary Clinton) not to talk any more about this issue. Say nothing of the Middle East and Africa  where to women even the human rights are still denied.
This consideration aims to know if in your Country this is still a relevant issue and what you think about it. I would like more girls were interested to state their opinions, involved in these issues. I would like all we girls drew our inspiration from other women with brains.

Need a cut?

Every time a woman cuts her hairs seems there is a revolution in act, a turning point in her life and is a way to leave something behind. Is this a commonplace or not? Surely are an essential part of our body we care a lot and usually we are never happy about them. For a woman are a symbol of femininity, frame the face, give a character to it.

Am always attracted by short hairs and when I see a woman having  them I ask myself  why she wears short. I need also to explain  am an observer and  through hairs  think sometimes you could  understand something of a person. There could be many reasons, aesthetical, practical, momentary insanity or fashion. Long hairs could seem more feminine than short ones at first sight. If you are asking how I wear...have long (black) with a kind of layered long fringe.
Turning over the pages of Vogue Italia the editorial about Keira Knightley captured my attention. She has a delicate but impressive face, maybe so slim to seem bony and make her eyes bigger than how they are. She has short hairs. Can you say she is not feminine...?No, she is, maybe is a new kind of femininity...effortless sexy and natural...but surely not a structured and displayed femme fatale and this is positive.

We could say there are also cuts and cuts...that is, a very short cut is more difficult to wear but if you have a little face, it does nothing but put it in emphasis. Bob cut for example, is a good middle way, is chic and makes the face tidy (I had on it when was 12, who of us didn't have short hairs when we were children? It doesn't matter in these remarks:)). Without venturing, a medium short cut is a good solution to frame the face.

And now the most important point: give character.

I imagine a woman with short hairs having strong personality, resolute and volitive, caring in substance and easy going like I am. As well as chic and cool.

Conclusion...This could be the right moment to cut, I find no peace with my hairs and this displays the commonplace I am a little restless this period. To do or not to do?

Dress this way

So many matters  I have in mind which would like to talk about... I need a little order in my thoughts...

First, I want to do a special thank to everyone of you who visit the blog, read, comment, if this blog exists it's thanks to you...!(To be honest there were times I thought not to blog anymore...:))

When I started blogging I had no idea of what huge web community could exist, sincerely I do not know exactly why I started but have to say I have found a lot of interesting people who I love reading, of supportive one each other girls, genuine people who write to share, not only as an outlet; it's funny discovering how many things you can have in common with people on the other side of the earth and am not talking about fashion but readings, passions, interests. Am always surprised to look in a blog the same things am interested to!

Second, I would like to thank a blogger, Sascha from Sascha's daily drama (she is one of the genuine  bloggers who has an impressive biography of roots and countries) who I received the sunshine blog award from! Thank you very much Sascha!

And finally after these holidays in which everybody dressed up I really need a long period of minimalism and detox from clothes, designers...I have had a sort of bulimia from the pictures of other bloggers' outfits with fashionable designers clothes and accessories and from the shop windows (it's not so positive as this is period of sales, the idea of elbowing or getting into a line make me shivered ),  so I prefer having as much as possible simple clothes and a natural look. I feel this way and I dress this way. Chignon preferably +natural make up+black turtleneck+black simple lines trousers. The only concession, my leopard flats. That's all. Have a nice we.
