The tourist

Hi dear,
After the first days of laziness what do you do in the freezing nights of these winter holidays? How are you spending these days :)?
Last night I went to cinema to watch The tourist, the movie with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Deep shot in Venezia, I was impressed by the set (I look forward to go to the wonderful Venezia and get lost among its calle :D) and by Angelina Jolie's dresses designed for the occasion by Ferragamo. The dresses and the suits she wears are glamorous and chic, timeless and very refined classics like in Ferragamo's tradition, love this style, have in mind to buy a pair of black long gloves like her one :).

By the way of Angelina Jolie's personal style I have to say she is always perfect. No eccentricity, she usually prefers feminine dresses with simple but sexy shapes, only one colour (white, black and pale pink) matched with black or neutral colours shoes. Sometimes only one statement jewel, I still remember the emerald drop earrings she wore in a red carpet, fabulous! She doesn't need much to be beautiful like a real diva. Great example of elegance, less is more is always a truth.

Happy Holidays

Hello guys,
hope you spent a super merry Christmas, did you find under the tree what you wished?

This year I have had a lot in material gifts but actually what I would like to receive is a year of peace, happiness and love for me and my family. This would be the biggest present I wish, I don't ask anymore. No clothes, no shoes or other things can replace the smiles, the happiness you have when you are surronded by beloved people. Ever like this year I have understood this thing.

Hence, the best gift I wish to you is that you will have a wondeful new year, full of good immaterial things.

Frida on my mind

Dear readers,

I imagine in these days you are involved in Christmas shopping to find the last gifts for your friends and family, I saved you from giving a list of possible gifts because I think a present has to be very personal, talk about the person who will receive it and be chosen observing his tastes with a bit of care. Only a recomendation, let's try to limit our consumerism and think that sometimes the time is still the most precious gift.

Christmas is the time in which you come back home, the family gets together, you have more time to spend with old friends. For me it's also the time in which I can be lazy without feeling too guilty :), watch movies, go to cinema, read books, my copy of Vogue Italia, newspaper, yes not only online (I'm also a fan of paper), stay at bed and make simple things I don't have time to do before...like having a decent breakfast, going to hairdresser :) (oh, I made a long fringe in these days)!

How are you spending the spare time in these days before the big holidays? Is full time shopping killing you? In these days I'm reading a Frida Kahlo monograph by Taschen I bought recently to increase my collection, I'll talk about her soon.

And soon there will be a guest post on a smart and talented illustrator :-) whose drawings I love. So stay tuned!

immagino che in questi giorni siate presi dallo shopping di Natale per trovare gli ultimi regali da fare per i vostri amici e per la famiglia. Vi ho risparmiato una lista di possibili doni perchè penso che un regalo debba essere personale, parlare della persona che lo riceverà, essere scelto osservando i suoi gusti con un pò di attenzione. Una sola raccomandazione, cerchiamo di limitare il nostro consumismo e pensiamo che qualche volta il tempo è ancora il regalo più prezioso. 

Il Natale è il momento in cui si torna a casa, la famiglia si riunisce, si ha più tempo da passare con i vecchi amici. Per me è anche il tempo in cui si può essere pigri senza sentirsi troppo colpevoli :) guardare film, leggere libri, la mia copia di Vogue Italia, il giornale cartaceo, si, non solo online (sono anche una fan della carta), stare a letto e fare piccole cose semplici che non trovo il tempo di fare prima...come fare una colazione decente, andare dal parrucchiere :) (oh, ho fatto la frangia lunga in questi giorni)!

Come state passando il tempo libero in questi giorni prima delle grosse vacanze? Lo shopping a tempo pieno vi sta uccidendo? In questi giorni sto leggendo una monografia di Frida Kahlo di Taschen che ho comprato di recente per accrescere la mia collezione, vi parlerò a breve di lei.

E a breve ci sarà un guest post su un'illustratrice intelligente e di talento :-) di cui amo i disegni. Stay tuned!

Have you seen the Miu Miu 2011 Spring Summer Collection yet? The flashes of electric colours, yellow, blue, red, shocking pink in the dresses and in the accessories have captured me totally. The mary jane are super cute, what about having a shocking pair of shoes for next season? :) Miuccia Prada rocks always.

I know that it's very cold to think about spring summer but keep in mind the imperative of the next season: abandon the light colours and switch to psychedelic!

the past week was really full of things to do...I went out, met some friends and did shopping in the city.

If there is something cool, always trendy in every season is leopard print. When I wear leopard, I like matching it with a total black outfit or a touch of red or grey. It becomes more sophisticated, you need a delicate balace not to be vulgar, for example, I prefer wearing feminine shoes and not grunge boots  to smooth out the total effect. The red lipstick and tidy hairs could complete perfectly the look. Enjoy some examples!

Yesterday was a very busy day but I could fit together all the things I had to do. As promised I show you all the things I bought yesterday at the Chanel make up appointment. I was already a Chanel fan but testing on my skin all the new products I was really enthusiastic.

I have to say that the visagiste was really good and he tried on my face the new limited edition make up which I'm gonna speak about. I was a Dior beauty addict with also a lot of products from Guerlain, Yves Saint Laurent and Lancome, all the French beauty maisons, but I was really surprised by all the news from Chanel.

Tomorrow is Friday (thanks God) and I tell you in advance you will see a post on make up, I think on Saturday, because I decided to book an appointment at a Chanel visagiste who will put on me a personal make up, and make me see all the last news in the Chanel make up. I'm not a super expert in make up but I am a Chanel fan, I love all the French beauty brands. I promise you will be brought up to date on my purchases, I will return at home with some Chanel products which I will not be able to say no!

It's really cute, a pleasure for eyes. I have a absolute love for Elie Saab creations. Elie Saab makes women sophisticated, so that wearing one of his dresses, they can feel real queens. Is this the purpose of fashion, isn't it?

Valentino-Chanel Spring Summer 11

Wonderful collections from Valentino and Chanel, the most awaited catwalks. (Pictures from Style.it)

In Valentino we found a very delicate palette of colours, nude, black and white, big use of lace,  with a very modern effect. The Valentino urban woman doesn't give up being feminine also daily. Characteristic of the maison is the use of ruches in the jackets, in the dresses that express a light and very clean in the lines, romanticism. Maria Grazia Chiuri e Pierpaolo Piccioli did a good work in respect of the brand tradition.

In Chanel collection, we could see a triumph of feathers, everywhere, both in daily and nightly outfits matched with the skirt tailleurs, classics of the maison. Coloured flowers dresses, big use of tulle, black and white matched and mixed. In the catwalk there was also the presence of Ines De la Fressange, Chanel muse, among the models.

Let's mambo! So Sophia...

As you know, cinema inspires our lives, our way of thinking and also fashion like those ones inspire cinema, so sometimes in this blog I would like to share with you some scenes of movies I really love.

Late Forties and Fifties were a fantastic period, a golden age for Italian cinema, for the presence of stars like Sofia Loren, Marcello Mastroianni, Vittorio De Sica, Silvana Mangano, Gina Lollobrigida, and directors like Fellini, Rossellini (who created a new way of acting and filming ispired to reality, the Neorealismo), it was also the period in which Italian comedy was born; the movies of these years contributed to the success of stars like Sophia who won the Oscar for her performance in "La Ciociara" and became an icon all over the world.

Well, I want to show you a piece of a movie directed by Dino Risi, "Pane, Amore e..." (1955), it's with Sophia Loren and Vittorio De Sica and the scene is a cult for the mambo dance in which Sophia expresses her curvy sensuality.
Nice way to start the day!

New Talent: Hakaan

 

Today I would like to show you a new talent that is meeting success among celebrities like Kate Moss and attracting the attention by fashion editors all over the world: Hakaan. I love the emerging talents, overall Francesco Scognamiglio, and I think they have to be supported by buyers - by the way I like the Dolce & Gabbana's iniziative of opening a new space in Milan, Spiga2, to promote new talents, I'd like to dedicate a post in the future.

The Turkish designer Hakaan exalts the female form with strong shapes, short dresses with neutral colour, black and white especially, and sculptorial cuts. His style is clean but impressive. You can see the new catwalk of Paris fashion week and the last fall/winter collection. 

I think we'll hear of him a lot!
