Fashion Drawings

Good morning guys,
as promised I would like to introduce you a very talented girl who makes amazing and to die for drawings but not only. She is as much good in drawings (as much as Garance DorĂ©, in my opinion possibly better than Garance's ones :)) as clever and a post feminist kinda girl like me :), her illustrations come out from paper as if speak and her blog is a mix of smart and tres chic remarks, very true to us, girls' life and the best fashion.
Each post is meaningful and interesting, thought to create a discussion and written with style, you should read it! Every time I see her beautiful drawings feel like getting back to draw, one of my passions :). Maybe one day I'll show you mine :), time permitting!
You find below her drawings, click the post! and a little interview I made for you.

She is MAYA BEUS, check out her blog! http://mayabeus.blogspot.com/

Where do you find your inspiration for your drawings?

First of all I have to warn you that there is gonna be a lot of cliches in my answers.
But this is because a lot of cliches are true, so there is no point in me faking it
to give a more original view of myself. :-)
Answer to this question would be everywhere.
Off course magazines are obvious source, but movies, friends, life, street, memories,
words, struggles, happiness. Really everywhere.

Each drawing to come out from paper has to communicate, express something. Is there   a recurring idea or feeling you can find in your drawings? What do you like to tell through your illustrations?

Well mostly I find myself communicating emotion, but sometimes I like to tell a story as well. I am one of those people who thinks a bit much, so basically what I draw are just certain thoughts and emotion that found their way to paper.
I like to connect to the readers so I will usually do a subject I feel will resonate with them.
Sometimes am right sometimes am wrong.

The majority of the subjects of your illustrations are women. How do you see women
from your eyes?

Oh, this is a tough one... I don't know. Am a girly girl, and have always been (except that one phase in high school when I tried to be one-of-the-boys kinda girl) so
I relate and understand women much better than man.
Also I see myself as a post feminist kinda girl and luckily I didn't grow up in such
a pressured culture towards women (in terms of perfection)
so am pretty relaxed about it all.
But there are certain issues I have with being a woman I feel are common to
everyone which I hope to shed some light on with my posts.

What is the experience that has marked most you (personal or professional)? And the most important thing you have learnt these years?

Oh that would definitely be when I finally moved to London. At the moment I don't live there, but still consider it to be my spiritual and creative home.
When I come to London I come home. Living there liberated me, both in terms of what I am
(and can be) and what I do. I would recommend everyone to do their London. :-)

Who is your favourite living artist?

Hm... I like illustrator David Downton, painter Maria Lessnig is excellent, but I don't have a favourite one. There are many that I think are great and interesting.

What is your biggest dream?
Well it is at the same time a dream and a plan. I want to live, and live very well, off my drawing. All I want to do in life is draw and travel. So I guess making that happen is a dream come true.

Which are the place you love more and the place you would like to visit?
At  the moment I have become obsessed with going to live in Hawaii and surf for a summer.

What do you like to do apart drawing?

Watch movies... Yoga... Nothing too cool unfortunately.

You couldn't live without...?

Paper and a pen. Seriously.

PS: She is gonna open a store of her drawings on Etsy soon!
