Themes from the catwalk: macrame'

If you gave a look at the just passed Milan catwalks, you should have noticed the presence of a trend which is being all the rage everywhere: macrame'.
To impose the trend of this kind of lace- once consigned to the pieces of embroideries which decorated the household or bed linen of the grandmas- to name a few, Dolce&Gabbana and Prada (also Blumarine in the past spring summer collection).
Dolce&Gabbana doesn't betray the Sicilian identity of the brand, it gets quite stronger. Here macrame' covers entirely dresses, skirts and tops with 50s shapes, sometimes combined with light dresses with prints of vegetables, on the whole sensual and provocative in a fresh way. The declared inspiration is a cult movie - I posted about a year ago HERE - where Sofia Loren dances Mambo Italiano.
At Prada the use of macrame' is sophistication, made of appliques of little flowers of two tones over boxy coats, jackets and skirts. The aim is decorating clothes with a romantic effect. The colours are delicate, light blue, green, pink, salmon.

Bottega Veneta, Made in Italy

Everyday luxury: Bottega Veneta collections give me always the idea to be thought for a woman who wants to stand out against the wild mass wearing luxury fashion. A reserved woman who don't flaunt - don't need a tag on her clothes - her distinctive sign is the appreciation of quality, both of materials and manufacturing and a modern retrò taste. This catwalk is a synthesis of masterly research on hand-crafted and sartorial pieces, with the purpose of combining the charm of discretion to a flair made of details, feminine and sleek shapes.

What predominates are delicate prints in orange, green and purple, thin and light fabrics, fluid dresses to wear in the city in midi lenghts. All in a mix, kind of urban-intellectual-ethnic, which lends a contemporary allure, nothing banal. What I loved most is the outfit beside, a bustier dress in purple print, a little sweater with geometric figures and orange profiles. See also below the elegant intrecciato plastic degradè-tone bag.

Milano Runway

Salvatore Ferragamo

To me Ferragamo was the most elegant and chic collection. A classy working woman,
in the mood of 80s Wall Street. Self-confident and feminine.
Pied de poule, pin stripes, prince of Wales during the day, and for the evening, embroideries, leather and lame'. Beautiful the collars and the little classic bags.
A refined and traditional style like Ferragamo is.

Emilio Pucci

There were the multicolours prints in the Pucci collection but there was also an inspiration of Tyrol and Sissi The Empress in the embroidered dresses with the bustiers. Turquoise, purple, green
the colours for the prints,
lace and gold on the baroque black dresses to break the usual Pucci's style. Very glamourous.

Milano Runway

Prada

Prada is always amazing, we can see a proposal of colours, lenghts, shapes, very 60s London.
Beautiful the two tones boots. She can always revise the past in a contemporary key
and nobody more than her can make the retrò allure so charming.
She doesn't follow trends, has an exact idea of her woman and sets the rules.

Versace

The Versace woman is always seductive and glamour, this time has a vague refined military tone.
Beautiful dresses with minimal, coloured graphic drawings and golden buttons.
Golden details you can also notice in the accessories, strong and pushful open toe boots
and the big bags, absolutely very Versace.

London Fashion Week

Antonio Berardi

Antonio Berardi's collection is one of the best of LFW to me. Asymetrical cuts, lace, lamè
and tweed with a very modern effect, especially on the skirts and the minidresses.
To burn the black he added green flash to the shoes.

I DIE for Miu Miu

Have you seen the Miu Miu 2011 Spring Summer Collection yet? The flashes of electric colours, yellow, blue, red, shocking pink in the dresses and in the accessories have captured me totally. The mary jane are super cute, what about having a shocking pair of shoes for next season? :) Miuccia Prada rocks always.
I know that it's very cold to think about spring summer but keep in mind the imperative of the next season: abandon the light colours and switch to psychedelic!

Pure Luxury Elie Saab

When I think about luxury, I think Elie Saab. His precious dresses are synonymous with luxury and modernism, they exalt women and make them glamorous, feminine, elegant.  I like really all his Haute Couture gowns. So dream on girls, hoping one day you could wear one! Enjoy.
